2012 Reading Challenge – Around The Stacks In So Many Ways

I read about this reading challenge, hosted by Book Monkey and Dog Ear Discs, in a comment on thereadables‘ video on her 2012 resolutions. The goal of this challenge is to read as many genres as possible. I’m glad to have an opportunity to force myself to read a variety of genres.

As I am a slow reader, I don’t want to challenge myself to hard, so I will challenge myself for the level “backpacker”. You will find German book titles in this list, well, because I am German. And I will read some books that have not been translated (yet).

Also, I want to read books that I already own. I own too many books that I haven’t read yet. I will update my progress on the challenge page above!

The genres and the books I’ve chosen:

  • Thriller : The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo – Stieg Larsson
  • Crime: Osterfeuer – Ella Danz
  • Sci-Fi : Necromancer – Bernd Perplies
  • Fantasy : The Name Of The Wind – Patrick Rothfuss
  • Steampunk : Magierdämmerung, Für die Krone – William Gibson
  • Dystopian : 1984 – George Orwell
  • Young Adult : A Million Suns – Beth Revis
  • Philosophy : No Exit – Jean-Paul Sartre
  • Adventure : Around The World In 80 Days – Jules Verne
