On The Hunt – Arrrrr, Pirates!

On The Hunt is a new feature on this blog, on which I plan to share the books that I plan on reading someday because they sound so awesome. It might be about books I already own or others. I might always do a theme, but we’ll see. Maybe they will end up being just a collection of books that sound good!

After watching The Pirates Of The Carribean today (and drooling over Captain Jack Sparrow, the prettiest man ever!…except for my boyfriend of course. Ehem. Love you!), I realized that I have not read one single book about priates! I think. I’m pretty sure. I think. Although “pirates” is a definite buzz word for me! (Check out Misty‘s book chat on buzz words and deal breakers!) I love the idea behind pirates, which to me is freedom, equality and a whole lotta rum. Yes, that is the romantic side of pirates. I know that it wasn’t like that. I don’t mind historical incorrectness in this case.

So I did a little research, browsing through listopia, which is my favorite tool on goodreads. Seriously, I could spend hours with it. And I have. I found some promising books there, and I will share them with you!

Treasure Island by Robert L. Stevenson – THE classic of this genre. Right? I have seen many adaptations of this story, but I have not read the original yet. I already downloaded this to my Kindle because it’s free, but maybe I will listen to the audio book from

Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie – I already own this as a Penguins Classic, so it already is on my huge to-be-read pile. I have seen the Disney version, of course. I’m interested to read the original story!

Pirates! by Celia Rees – I have not heard anything about this book before today. It is a YA pirates book apparently. We’ll see!

The Princess Bride by William Goldman – I’m not sure about this one. I mean, I’m not sure wether or not it is about pirates. I have no idea what it is about actually, but it seems like everybody loves this. And the movie. So I really want to read this! And watch the movie.

The Dust Of 100 Dogs by A.S. KingMisty rated it 5 stars on goodreads. It seems I have to check it out then! You can watch the trailer here!

The Assassin’s Curse by Cassandra Rose Clarke – I found out about this on A Tapestry Of Words’ Waiting On Wednesday. I suppose it’s more about assassins and magic than about pirates, but it still sounds awesome. It will be released this year in October!

Retribution Falls by Chris Wooding – I may be stretching it here but – Steampunk pirates!! That just sounds almost too good.

Would you read pirate books? Do any of these sound good to you? Let me know!
